Great book that is easy to follow and understand.
This book and others by her are extraordinary in teaching integrity and spirituality. One can learn volumes from just one chapter at a time. It, and others by her, are bibles.
This is one of the best retellings of Ramayana in English. I would give five stars for the storytelling itself — the structure and the flow of the plot; but Subramaniam's use of English is rather stilted and often clumsy, relying on idioms that become irritating in their repetition. Read this for its detail but, if you are looking for a beautifully written version as an introduction to this great story, I would first read the retelling by [William?] Buck. Both of these are retellings, not actual translations.
Superbly written. Simple, easily readable and yet very elegant language. The story flows very smoothly. I strongly recommend the book to people of all ages.
I loved how the author has tried to capture the poetic beauty of the original work by the sage Valmiki. As much as possible, the book reads like a poem. Nice translation and interpretation!
Love this adaptation of the Ramayana should be a MUST read for everyone.
